Meat Manager

Job Responsibilities:

The Meat Manager is responsible for managing department inventory, in stock position, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes to company standards while independently performing a variety of other duties in the Store and ensuring a safe and efficient operation in the Meat Department located at the Dancing Eagle Supermarket (Marketplace) in Casa Blanca.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and execute sales/ad plan according to outlined company guidelines.
  • Plan, order, and prepare cutting lists, and process meat according to the standards to maximize sales and gross profit.
  • Ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and displays.
  • Monitors the quality and freshness of meat products.
  • Ensure meat counter is always stocked to company and managements outlined standards.
  • Actively participates in LDC Management Capacity Program as required.
  • Must be able to work all different shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of meat market and daily operations of department.
  • Maintain and follow all food safety guidelines to ensure department is acceptable to food code.
  • Oversee proper care, storage, use and cleaning of all tools and equipment.
  • Orders product to acceptable levels to insure maximized sales and minimal shrink.
  • Computer Data Entry.
  • Actively participate in Management Development Leadership Series (MDLS) yearly.
  • All other duties as assigned by management. 

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate preferred.
  • 2-3 years relevant experience and demonstrated ability to lead. 

Licensing & Certification:

  • Obtain and maintain Serv-Safe Certification. 

Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic reading and writing skills.
  • Must be able to operate a Saw, Grinder, Scale, Wrapper and Knives 

Essential Physical Requirements: 

  • The job requires the ability to balance/climb, bend over, crouch/stoop, hear, kneel, reach overhead, stand, talk, turn/twist, walk, and repetitively use hands 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift, slide/transfer 50+ lbs. 51-100% of the time. 

Essential Mental Demands:

  • The job requires the ability to organize, plan, make decisions, read and write 51-100% of the time. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hire, promote, compensate, train, discipline, schedule, apportion work among employees, direct, appraise productivity, terminate, measure performance and plan budgets for work. 

Work Environment (inside/outside):

  • The job is primarily performed indoors with frequent exposure to cold temperatures.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
