Laguna Burger Cook/Clerk

Job Responsibilities:

A Laguna Burger Cook/ Clerk is responsible for all aspects of the restaurant, including cooking, operating the cash register, and assisting guests. Laguna Cook/ Clerk are instrumental in keeping the restaurant area of the retail store clean and presentable to guests. In addition to keeping the restaurant clean, Laguna Burger Retail Cook/ Clerk are responsible for occasionally operating and sanitizing kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers and slicers. The ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently is critical for this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate a point of sale system/cash register (e.g., maintain change in cash drawer; accept cash, checks, and bankcards for payment; calculate discounts; ensure proper identification for certain transactions; count money; return correct change; issue receipts; balance cash drawer and receipts; keep register area neat, clean and stocked with necessary supplies; and documents discrepancies).
  • Stock store retail merchandise and ensure merchandise is displayed in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Assist with training of new team members.
  • Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences; connect with them individually and professionally; smile; make eye contact and verbally greet guests from arrival to the property through departure; and provide friendly and fast beverage service to guests).
  • Cook on a grill to include the following:
    • Prepare and cook food orders to meet product quality standards and customer preference
    • Food preparation and portioning
    • Cooking on the grill
    • Operating a fry station,
    • Dressing items to order,
    • Package/deliver all menu items and checking for product quality and consistency
    • Replenish condiments, as needed.
    • Clean including trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes, and wiping counter-tops and sanitizing food/customer seating areas.
    • Perform duties to ensure compliance and in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Be a team player (e.g., work toward team goals and foster a collaborative and positive work environment; put the team first; assist coworkers; treat all coworkers with kindness, courtesy and respect; never engage in negativity; maintain openness to coaching, learning and improving; receptive to change and willingness to embrace challenges with team-spirit).
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of services, room locations, amenities, surroundings (e.g., gift shop, restaurants, theater, etc.), providing accurate directions, and information for guest inquiries about promotions and special events.
  • Work under pressure; maintain regular and punctual attendance including working odd or unusual hours, weekends and holidays.
  • At all times maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with all LDC personnel and the general public (e.g., coworkers, clients and vendors).
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned. 

Education & Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Cashiering experience preferred.
  • Perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Experience in fast food environment preferred.

Licensing & Certification:

  • None. 

Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:

  • Proficient using cash register.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills
  • Fryer
  • Grill 

Essential Physical Requirements: 

  • The job requires the ability to balance/climb, bend over, crouch/stoop, hear, kneel, reach overhead, stand, talk, turn/twist, walk, and repetitively use hands 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift, slide/transfer 1-50 lbs. 25-50% of the time.
  • Ability to read (e.g., orders on tickets, menu board, receipts, etc.)
  • Frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, cleaning and sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items.

Essential Mental Demands: 

  • The job requires the ability to organize, plan, make decisions, read and write 51-100% of the time.

Work Environment (inside/outside):

  • The job is performed primarily indoors with exposure to fumes (e.g., cigarette smoke, fuel). 

Other Requirements: 

  • Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screen.
  • Obtain and maintain Serv-Safe Certification.
