Banquet Server

Job Responsibilities:

A Banquet Server ensures that patrons have an enjoyable dining experience by providing quality customer service. Banquet servers work events by greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and removing dinnerware from the table in a timely manner.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Complete set up/closing tasks (e.g., wipe down station; polish and roll silverware; refill condiments; wipe tables and chairs; check linens; set tables; reset station for next shift; complete all closing duties according to assigned side work).
  • In friendly manner perform duties such as but, not limited to: communicate special menu items or specials to customers; take orders to customer specifications; provide garnish; carry trays filled with food orders; replenish silverware, glassware, dishes as needed; maintain/deliver beverage area, brews and coffee; maintain cleanliness (e.g., clean service/dining areas).
  • Perform activities designed to provide clean and safe beverage and food areas for patrons, reporting any potential safety hazards to management staff.
  • Maintain temperature requirements for food and drink preservation.
  • Ensure compliance with all ServSafe and safety requirements.
  • Maintain high cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with Food Systems Food Safety & Sanitation guidelines.
  • For special events, complete money transactions using a point of sale system/cash register without variance. Operate a point of sale system/cash register (e.g., maintain change in cash drawer; accept cash, checks, and bankcards for payment; calculate discounts; ensure proper identification for certain transactions; count money; return correct change; issue receipts; balance cash drawer and receipts; keep register area neat, clean and stocked with necessary supplies; and documents discrepancies).
  • Work with co-workers and management in a casino restaurant environment, involving high volume and gourmet, fast-paced production in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences; connects with them individually and professionally; smiles; makes eye contact and verbally greets guests).   
  • Be a team player (e.g., works toward team goals and fosters a collaborative and positive work environment; put the team first; assist coworkers; treat all coworkers with kindness, courtesy and respect; never engage in negativity; maintain openness to coaching, learning and improving; receptive to change and willingness to embrace challenges with team-spirit).
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of services, amenities, other venues to provide accurate directions and information for guest inquiries about promotions and special events.
  • Work under pressure; maintain regular and punctual attendance including working odd or unusual hours, weekends and holidays.
  • At all times maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with all LDC personnel and the general public (e.g., coworkers, clients and vendors).
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Education & Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Relevant work experience preferred.
  • Experience in restaurant or food service capacity highly desirable.  

Licensing & Certification:

  • Obtain and maintain Alcohol Server License (Must be 19 years of age or older).
  • None.  

Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery: 

  • Micros and banquet dispensing equipment.

Essential Physical Requirements: 

  • The job requires the ability to balance/climb, bend over, crouch/stoop, hear, reach overhead, stand, turn/twist, walk and repetitively use hands 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to carry, lift, and slide/transfer 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to push/pull 1-25 lbs. 25-50% of the time, and 50+lbs. 25-50% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to carry, lift, and slide/transfer 25-50+ lbs. 25-50% of the time.

 Essential Mental Demands: 

  • The job requires the ability to problem solve, organize, plan, make decisions 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to interpret data, read and write 25-50% of the time.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • None. 

Work Environment (inside/outside): 

  • The job is performed indoors in a kitchen/restaurant environment.

Other Requirements: 

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Obtain, within ninety days from day of employment, Serv-Safe Certification.
